Established in 1906, Chipstead Golf Club is a fixture of the Surrey hills that for over a century has welcomed visitors with pastoral views of the surrounding country, and the familiar serenity only found between tee and fairway.

How to find us:

Chipstead Golf Club is a 10 minute walk from Chipstead train station which has a direct line to East Croydon (travelling time 20 minutes)
London Victoria and London Bridge (travelling time 45 minutes)
The Club is also only a 10 minute drive from Junction 8 of the M25, the A217 or the M23

Gary Torbett

Turned Professional at the age of 17 and spent 12 years working as an assistant golf professional at Coombe Hill Golf Club before joining Chipstead Golf Club as their Head Professional in 1990.

Having played tournaments all over the world during the 80s and 90s, Gary’s playing career highlight came in the 1992 when he qualified for the Open Championship at Murfield.

Gary turned his attention to Golf Club Management in the year 2000 and has become a highly respected Golf Club Manager over the past 19 years here at Chipstead Golf Club.

Nic Torbett

Nic represented the County of Surrey at all age levels and helped Surrey win the Junior County Foursomes Championship in 2009. Nic finished 3rd twice in the Surrey under 21s Championship at the age of 15 and 16.

Nic turned Professional in 2011 and has continued to compete by playing both nationally and regionally whilst working as the Head Teaching Professional at Chipstead Golf Club.

Nic has fast become one of Surrey’s leading Junior Coaches and continues to develop the growth of our Chipstead Junior Golf Academy.

Jack Percival

Chipstead's Course Manager, Jack has gained a huge following in the local community for his charitable work for the homeless. A father of two, he is a lover of turf and all things golf. Moreover, his photography skills are something to behold and you can often find his shots of the course on social media.

Simon Torkington

Simon is now our deputy greenkeeper and has been a greenkeeper with us since 2014. Simon is currently studying his NVQ Level 3 in sports turf which is a nice addition to his degree in environmental science.

Jacob Roome

Gardener turned green keeper, Jacob enjoys the outdoors come rain or shine. He is a keen learner and hard working. You'll either find him spending time with his wife and daughter or with his true love...cars.

James Johnson

James recently graduated from Nottingham University with a history degree. He loves being outdoors and is enjoying learning how to play golf. James is a black belt in judo and also enjoys running.

Raymond Songhurst

Raymond enjoys being outside and spending time with his son. Raymond also plays football and enjoys art and learning new things.
